Surprise!! A New Post! (I know, I couldn't believe it either)

Just a quick update because I don’t have time to put a year’s worth of stuff in this post.  First, I am going to try and start updating this again.  I have a new job that, although I don’t have much free time, I am sitting at a desk most of the day so I should be able to squeeze a post in from time to time.  Second, my family and I moved in with my sister and her family as payback, I mean so we can save money to build a new house.  That’s what they get for moving in with us while their new house was built, lol.  Meanwhile, we are renting out the house we currently own.  Third, Joshua started Kindergarten this year and really seems to like it.  The teacher says he is well behaved in class and very polite.  Also, Joshua is in his fourth season of soccer and is absolutely dominating the competition.  He averages 6-8 goals per game.  It is a blast to watch unless, of course, you’re the parent of a kid on the other team.  We played the commissioner of our age group this past Thursday and beat his team 16 to 3.  I felt bad for him; his kids looked terrible.  And finally, Dylan is growing up too.  He’s three and finally starting to talk so that you can understand about half of what comes out.  He pronounces “s” like an “h” so the word “sit” comes out as “hit”.  That can get confusing at times but we usually figure it out.  I’m not sure what sport he’s going to play but he is definitely going to play something.  He seems to like kicking the soccer ball around with his older brother but he really seems to love football so we’ll see.  I guess that’s enough for now.  Hopefully this won’t be my only post for 10 months but I’m not making any promises.  I hope everyone is doing well and is in good health.

  • Back from the Dead

Man I'm tired today.  Our company Christmas party was last night so we didn't get home until 1 AM and I had to get up at 5 AM to go work.  I am absolutely too old to be staying up that late.  I drank a Monster energy drink to get me through the morning but I can tell its starting to wear off.  Of all the company Christmas parties I've been to over the years this one was by far the best.  They had prizes out the wazoo that they gave away.  It was cool how they had it set up.  You got tickets at the door that they turned into gambling chips worth about "$20,000".  You then used that "money" to gamble with, trying to increase your winnings.  For each $2000 worth of chips you would receive 1 ticket to put into a drawing for one of the prizes.  Between the two of us, Melissa and I ended up with 24 tickets which I thought was pretty good for two people that have never gambled.  The prizes were awesome......

Well there was more to this story but I've run out of time.  I'll try to pick it up later.....

  • Still Looking...

Not a lot to report yet; still looking for a new place to work.  I finally finished my resume yesterday.  Have I ever said how much I hate Microsoft Word?  No?  Well let me go on record now as saying it has to be the most frustrating program ever written and I've had two classes on how to use it.  I love how it assumes it knows better than you how to format what you've written.  At a previous job I had to write a booklet on how to do something and I got so fed up with Word that I ended up writing the whole thing in Excel, lol.  Well, I'm off to get the oil changed in the car and then start dropping off resumes.  Wish me luck....

  • Unemployed

It seems my instincts have become eerily accurate as of late.  My prediction in my last post wasn't too far off.  I didn't get fired that Friday, instead they waited until yesterday.  I'm not sure why but the new trend seems to be firing people on a Monday.  At least that's what happened to my boss and me.  So as I sit here and type this I am also reading about filing for unemployment which I will do either today or tomorrow.  I have to admit I have mixed feelings about getting fired.  I've been suffering from a severe case of burnout and have not enjoyed my job in years but at the same time I really liked the company (at least when I was first hired) and there were alot of really good people working there.  I also had a very flexible schedule which allowed me to help my wife with alot of the day to day things that seem to pop up in a family.  I never abused that privilege either.  If I came in late or left early I always made up my time.  I didn't want to be thought of as someone that was undependable.  What really sucks is I was going to start taking night courses and that job's schedule was flexible enough to allow that to happen.  Oh well, that's how it goes I guess.

I was asked if I had any pictures of New York City.  Yes, I have a ton of pictures but haven't had the time to post any.  I guess time is the one thing I have alot of now so I will try to put some up in a day or two.  Everyone take care...
